Amazonia is a vast region of Tropical rainforest criss-crossed by rivers like the Amazon, Rio Negro and Orinoco. It stretches out across parts of Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and Bolivia. The forest and it's inhabitants are under threat due to massive deforestation for mining, urban expansion and farming. The most recent danger is the increase in popularity of bio-fuels. Cutting forest to grow crops for these so-called eco-friendly fuels may upset the CO2 balance more than the fossil fuels they replace.
